Interview with the Danish Prime Minister on the P4G Summit

In the interview, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of helping the developing countries in achieving green growth and the important role which technology transfer plays in this. One of the ambitions of P4G is to replicate and scale innovative partnership solutions. The idea is that solutions developed in one part of the world might also be strong solutions in other parts of the world. The P4G Copenhagen Summit seeks to showcase some of these solutions and thereby contribute to technology transfer.

P4G is a highly global initiative. The P4G Copenhagen Summit will have participants from around 47 countrie,s which collectively represent 73 percent of the world’s population and 85 percent of the world’s GDP.

In order to form a powerful coalition on the sustainable development goals through innovative public-private partnerships, there will be participants from the public sector, businesses, international organisations, the financial sector, academia and the NGO sector.

There will be large political participation, including Heads of States and Governments from South Korea, Vietnam and the Netherlands and around 15-20 ministers. Some of the largest cities in the world will also be represented politically, including Paris, Beijing, Vancouver and Seoul. 

On 19 October, the Prime Minister will welcome the Summit participants at the Confederation of Danish Industry. Following that, the Ministry of Environment and Food, the Ministry of Energy, Utilities and Climate, the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs and Copenhagen Municipality will host sector-specific sessions on food & agriculture, water, energy, circular economy and cities. These sessions will take place throughout the city. The purpose of these sessions is to accelerate existing partnerships and foster new innovative partnerships.

The second day of the Summit will take place at the Danish Radio Concert Hall where political leaders, business leaders, and leaders from civil society and international organisations will discuss how they can drive the partnership agenda forward.
